Richard Hull

Celebrated Chicago artist Richard Hull returned to Manneken Press in 2017, producing a pair of large etchings and six large, colorful  monotypes that showcase the artist’s strengths as a draftsman. Each print is a portrait-like structure with lobes, appendages and swirling masses suggestive of breasts, chins, hair, eyes and other body parts in place of a head. The horizontal format etchings “Tuesday” and Wednesday” depict the subject viewing itself in a mirror, the funky frame of which has become part of the figure itself. Manneken Press previously published two editions and additional monotypes by Richard Hull in 2015.

Richard Hull has had over 40 one-person shows. His paintings are included in many private and public collections including, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, the Milwaukee Art Museum; the Nelson-Atkins Museum, Kansas City; the Neuberger Museum of Art, Westchester NY and the Smithsonian, Washington DC.
