Jack Davidson

After graduating from Gray’s School of Art in 1981, Davidson moved to London. He then lived in New York for 15 years before moving to Barcelona, where he has been based since 2001. Davidson has exhibited extensively in the US and Europe, and was a Yaddo Artists’ Residency fellow in 2016. His work is included in many public and private collections, including the New York Public Library Drawings and Prints Collection, Readers Digest Collection and Collección Olor Visual, Barcelona.

Jack Davidson spent a week working at Manneken Press in 2016 making monotypes. Following a process that he developed for making his paintings, he first made collages from torn pieces of painted paper, then recreated the compositions from the photographed collages, even mimicking details such as the torn edges of the paper in the collage.  He also added Rorschach blots of colors in certain parts of the prints utilizing flexible plates. In certain monotypes Davidson used metallic silver inks or metal leaf.
