Carlos Andrade frequently incorporates unusual materials into his prints, including colorful fabrics, meshes, plastic, string or other vernacular materials. He usually begins by adhering materials to the paper surface, then shaping a variety of plates which are then printed over the paper and adhered materials. The mixed media elements serve as color, form and texture, and the prints are often more like tactile objects than flat sheets of paper.
