Metalpoint drawings

In addition to being the founder and Master Printer of Manneken Press, Jonathan Higgins is also an artist. Facture, or the act and process of making has guided his work in printmaking and drawing, mediums that are rich in materials and process. Transformation, the way a silverpoint drawing oxidizes over time, the image reversal that takes place in printing, how lithographic tuche reticulates as it dries, are all elements that drive Higgins’ research and can be found in his work. His latest works are metalpoint drawings on paper and panel. His work was included in Silverpoint and Metalpoint Drawing: A complete Guide to the Medium by Schwalb and Mazzullo, published in 2019 by Routledge.
