Ted Kincaid's 2008 photogravure monoprints

In 2008 Ted Kincaid revisited the idea of creating a series of unique but related monoprints using abstracted photographic images as a basis. He had first explored this idea in his 2001 project with Manneken Press.

These prints are smaller in scale than their 2001 counterparts. Their pattern-based imagery originated in the artist’s digital drawings which he photographed with a film camera and intentionally blurred. The resulting negatives were used to create the copper photogravure plates from which the images were printed. Rather than striving for the uniformity of a limited edition, each impression was made unique by utilizing colored handmade papers, a variety of ink colors and multiple printings.

Twenty five unique impressions were pulled from each of the three plates. Each print is signed and numbered in pencil, verso.
